Great news! This is one of those posts that makes me shudder hands as I write and that makes me love even more my blog Sterlizie. A few days ago I received an email with a proposal that, as they say, changed my day: the chance to start a collaboration with an artist who realizes fashion illustrations. Her name is Rosaria Degennaro: she’s a young illustrator from south Italy that you’ll learn about very soon.
If you follow Sterlizie from a while, you know I like to write especially about independent fashion, with a focus on young talents. But the beauty takes many forms, as well as art, and I have never hidden my love for illustrations. So imagine my joy when these two expressions of human creativity are combined, resulting in magnificent fashion illustrations!
Rosaria Degennaro is 26 years old, lives in Cerignola (Puglia) and devoted herself full time to illustration. She finished a year ago the Academy of Fine Arts, with a thesis on the textile decoration. Her drawings are heavily influenced by the fashion factor and feature flowers, lines and colors, while the female figure is at the center and is placed to express femininity reflecting openly that of the author, who on the contrary is more shy and reserved. Other influences in Rosaria Degennaro’s fashion illustrations come from the fascinating for Islamic and Persian ornamental art, form the interest in the lithographic plates of Art Nouveau, for the Mexican embroidery, from the Asians fabrics and from those of William Morris.
All it took was one look at her work to understand that Rosaria Degennaro is perfect to illustrate the pages of Sterlizie: you’ll soon see her drawings created specifically for the articles of the blog. In the meantime you can take a look at her portfolio on Behance. So… spread the word and stay tuned!
